At the right time of year, starting from late winter the valley is abundant. We take this opportunity to pack them with sea salt & spices - an addictive lemony addition to tagines, braises, salads, fish dishes, roasted fennel, cous cous anywhere!
We have tasted many olives in our restaurant & shop and have found these from Maclaren Vale to be amazing in texture & flavour. Quite large with a delicious crunch & beautiful sheen. Packed in good olive oil which must be used, drizzle in a pan to start a pasta sauce.
At K&B we source pure local honey from various farms from the yarra valley. All our honey is not heat treated and hand spun from the honey comb. The benefits of local honey, apart from the low food miles is a natural antihistamine! Bees are incredible little beings who create this amazing nectar.
A Harvest Cafe favourite, it makes our ham & cheese toastie more than the sum of its parts. This relish made from local tomatoes in season is great with all our K & B sausages, a handmade pie, sausage rolls or a frittata.
We source his olive oil from the nearby Kangaroo Hills. The oil which is unfiltered is made from corregolia olives and hand pressed resulting in a delicious fruity & peppery oil with an evenly balanced palate. A great finishing oil!
At K&B we take a selection of nutty favourites - almonds, walnuts & cashews and toss them with spices, chilli, sea salt & cumin and roast them until crunchy. A great snack with drinks ... once you start it is hard to stop!
A great way to start the day, crunchy oats & almonds with the sweetness of coconut & apricots. Just add some ice cold milk, creamy yoghurt and maybe a little fresh seasonal fruit. There are very few who leave our shop on the day we are toasting this muesli it smells so yummy!
A gorgeously, golden chutney made from local pears with the glow of saffron. Perfect with roasted pork belly,a slice of K&B pork terrine or try as a little sweetness with duck confit and duck fat roasted potatoes.
Over the years the people that have worked with us have brought some fabulous flavours, this one is thanks to Roz who introduced these simple plump currants. great sprinkled over roasted vegetables & cous cous, with charcuterie, terrines and pork.
Thick, rich and dark this slow cooked relish is made from plump sultanas & red wine. Almost like a Branston Pickle - great with cheddar cheese or full flavoured sausages.
The pictures & name speak for them self - an old favourite. Delicious dark chocolate studded with marshmallow, turkish delight, pistachio and cranberries.
The Yarra Valley is renowned for delicious strawberries and being right in the heart of the valley we can find perfectly ripe fruit that is too bush ripened to make it to the wholesale market. Finished with a little rosewater this makes a fruit & floral jam to dollop on toast & scones.
